Karen Berger who was one of the early and chief editor of the Vertigo Sandman is known for pushing the boundaries of the works under the Vertigo banner. I wonder if the move was one pushed by the parent company of DC or if this was more along the lines of the early days when Sandman was still under the DC print rather than the Vertigo imprint.

I met her about 10 years ago at a con and for such an unassuming woman, she was quite intimidating not to mention acerbic when you actually talked to her about her good management of the Vertigo label. She made remarks about how she was often thwarted by DC upper management into what they thought was too subversive or mature for DC.

I love that retarded self-censorship thing that DC and Marvel used to have. The one where you couldn't use the word "flick", due to the risk that the L and the I would run together and people would say "LOOK OUT, HE'S GOT A FUCK-KNIFE!"

I've read a lot of interviews with Neil Gaiman, most of them in reference to Sandman. This includes a book about Sandman that almost half of which is one long in-depth interview with Neil about Sandman and the process of writing it. This is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect to be brought up somewhere and it's the first I've heard of it.

TL;DR:I think someone made this up so they could make a cute dig at DC. Cite?

Neil has been asked on Twitter. Not sure if I'll get a response, but I figure it's best to go straight to the supposed source.

Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

putting mayo in donuts or something?

And is picture 4 supposed to be some kind of candy?

Picture 5, do those things make noise if you sit then?

Picture 6, what is speedstick? Some kind of soap?

Picture 11, what is the point of putting a straw in a coke can?

1: No idea, honestly.

4: Candy Apples.
Apples with a candy red sugar coating. Delicious. And then you bite into one of these. And taste Onion. Raw Onion.

5: They explode. Usually, you throw them to the ground hard enough and they explode. But any kind of pressure srong enough will make them go BANG too. So imagine several of these exploding under your ass when you sit down to do business . .

6: Yeah, some kind of Soap.

11: Makes every coke go flat in short time.

1. He is filling cream donuts with mayonnaise.

6. Speed Stick is an antiperspirant.

11. He pulled the person's straw out of their coke, put the straw into a ketchup packet, and put it back in.

Makes sense, that's basically why we create all this technology anyway, to get laid. I wonder if the fact that women invent and create less than men is due to their inferior sexual drive compared to men.

/ponders a moment

I bet Marie Curie was an absolute BEAST in the sack...

So you're saying it wasn't radioactive luminescence, just afterglow?

Also, it seems that maybe straight women have less sex drive than men, but I've found fellow lesbites to have plenty of sex drive (mine is somewhat subdued as a side-effect of my antidepressant medication). So maybe it's just that men are really crap at sex.

My experience (while rather small in sample size) with that has been mostly reversed. Hypothesis: people are just terrible with the opposite sex's junk. Gay is the way. Lesbian is... okay, nothing really rhymes with lesbian.

While not to disagree with what DSM just said above, I reckon it's also because people generally aren't good at anything that involves another person without practice. You need only read all the threads about shitty GMing/players/gaming groups to prove that particular truth - we need others, but aren't very considerate of them often.

Additionally, I think it's also due to the taboo nature of sex. Sex is something our society discusses with giggles and a bunch of stupid myths, which means hard facts and knowledge aren't properly disseminated, and if you actually try to do meaningful research on 'pleasing another person', you get weird looks all over the show, instead of, you know, actual helpful advice or something.

So as a result, these things tend to make both sexes bad at sex in general. I mean, I've been with one woman who I didn't have to teach about doing things correctly - out of motherfucking seven.

Thespian. Also, "best man".
I.e. "My thespian lesbian."
Or: "Lesbian is best man"
